Chelsea Lately

Hey all Gabbz here,

So for today I decided to do a manicure inspired by one of my and Kourt's favorite shows, Chelsea Lately. The show stars the funny comedian Chelsea Handler. Now, this show may not be for everyone. She's very blunt, and crass and likes to make fun of a lot of people. She also comes out with some witty lines usually making fun of someone which Kourt and I have incorporated into out everyday vocabulary. For instance, if someone we know does or says something dumb we follow it with a look and say "you're so stupid" lol. If someone does something wrong or bad we don't say "oh no, you didn't" we say "Homo-you didn't" lol. Now, these are not to offend anyone personally. There are many, many more but we won't give them all away. Keep in mind we say these things as a joke and usually end up saying them to one another or a close friend who gets our sense of humor.

The basis of the late night show it that Chelsea along with three other comedians at a round table to talk about current events. Topics can include politics, celebrities shenanigans or just off the wall topics of things happening around the world. After about two segments of the round table topics she then interviews a celebrity usually involving something new they are promoting. Chelsea Lately can be watched weeknights on E! at 10p/9c.

I forgot to mention one important thing, not only is she funny but she loves her some alcohol, as do I lol. So for this manicure I decided to pay homage to her and drew a martini on my accent nail. I also incorporated similar colors that could be found in her show's logo. I did a french tip manicure which I used Zoya in Areej for the base and OPI Grape Set Match. I also drew a line of Zoya's Charla in between Areej and GSM.

So onto the pictures....

My Chelsea Lately Mani
For the Martini I drew it with LA Colors Art Deco in Black
the "drink" is also Art Deco in Baby Pink and used
Sinful Colors in Irish Green for the olive.

Areej, GSM(Grape Set Match) and Charla

I will end it with a pic of Kourt and I and Ms. Chelsea, well a cardboard cut-out of her. See, even her cut out like alcohol lol. We took a small road trip to Austin last year to see her stand up comedy show. Before the show, we got to met Chelsea and another round table regular(Jo Koy). She was doing a book signing for her book Chelsea Chelsea Bang Bang. Her books are so funny and chronicles her crazy life. She even called Kourt a little nugget because I told her I had a little nugget just like her (her nugget is Chuy) lol.

So do you watch Chelsea Lately like us? If so, who is your favorite round table comedian? Leave your comments below :)

The Rachel Zoe Project

Hey everyone! Kourt here :) So tonight was the start of the new season of The Rachel Zoe Project and let me tell you I am very excited! I love everything about Rachel Zoe and if I had a dream job it would be hers (or just to be her assistant would be amazing to me.) I'm all about dressing people and since I am limited to what I can wear due to my Spina Bifida, I like to live vicariously through other people (just ask my friend Amy LOL.)

If you aren't familiar with Rachel Zoe she is a stylist to the stars. She dresses people like Cameron Diaz, Anne Hathaway, Molly Sims and the list could go on and on. If you watch her show you'll notice she has a few catch phrases like "I'd die" or my favorite "That's B-A-N-A-N-A-S" LOL So using that catch phrase I decided to do a mani that would honor her famous saying. Let me just say I've been sick all day with a migraine so I just did the mani on a nail wheel so I wouldn't make my migraine worse.

I used China Glaze base coat, Zoya Raven, Sally Hansen Lightening, Kiss nail art pen, finished off with CHI top coat.

So again I am not feeling well and my hands were shakey so I did my best (Insert Dane Cook "I did my best" skit here.)

So do any of you watch The Rachel Zoe Project? I love it and I'm excited to see Rachel Zoe become a mommy :) You can watch The Rachel Zoe Project Tuesdays on Bravo 10/9c. So I'm going to leave you with a video of my girl Rachel Zoe :)

Bad Girls Club

Hello Lovelies Gabbz here,

So Monday's are a fun night because we both like to watch BaaaBad Girls lol. Let me tell you, the girls on this show are a hot mess, but it is fun to watch all there crazy shenanigans. The basis is that it's a reality show and they get 7 self proclaimed "bad girls" to live in a house and have their lives taped...wait that's Real World lol. This season all the women were put in a mansion in New Orleans and it's been a crazy season so far. This is how it's described on oxygen.com "Bad Girls Club New Orleans" brings drama to a new level with a cast of young women who are powerfully bold, outrageously funny and endlessly entertaining. The series brings seven new 'bad girls' together in a house where the women recognize that their outrageous behavior has hindered their relationships, careers and lives. They claim they want to change, but will living together help them move forward and turn their lives around - or will chaos rule? Bad Girls Club can be seen every Monday @ 9/8c on Oxygen.

Whenever I think of an edgy manicure I automatically think of black and since the logo of the show is pink, I decided to pair those two colors together. I first applied my China Glaze Base coat then I used a new black polish I recently bought from Wet 'n' Wild in Black Creme. I then topped off all nails but ring finger with China Glaze Crackle polish in Broken Hearted. Of course I had to incorporate the logo. I drew it free hand on my accent nail with LA Colors Art Deco striper polish in Intense Pink. Finally, I topped off all my nails with 1 coat of Seche Vite.

Here is the look...inside with flash

1 coat of Black Creme

Here with Broken Hearted and
Bad Girl's logo on accent nail

If you have watched passed seasons of Bad Girls club, which season is your favorite of them all? Maybe you have a favorite Bad girl? I know we all have a little bit of a bad girl side, which one do you relate to some or alot too? Tell us in the comments below.

Drop Dead Diva

Hey everyone! Kourt here...We have another special week for you guys! Gabbz and I will be alternating days with manis inspired by our favorite show we watch on that designated day. So today is Sunday and I'm kicking the week off with my Drop Dead Diva mani :) I love Drop Dead Diva and for those who don't watch it it airs on Lifetime, Sundays @ 9pm E/8pm C. It's a really good and positive show. Funny too! It makes me smile, laugh and cry almost every episode.

So for the mani I used OPI's Servin' Up Sparkle (which I just scored with OPI's Grape Set Match for $7.95) because when I think about the word Diva I think diamonds and sparkle. On the accent nail I used an angelic heart nail sticker to kind of go with the Drop Dead part of the title :) I finished it off with Seche Vite top coat.

Here is the mani in normal light

Now in a brighter light where you can see the Sparkle more

And of course w/ the bottle of OPI's Servin' up Sparkle...This was 4 coats of polish by the way w/ 2 of Seche Vite because it is really sheer and I wanted it to be smooth...But it light it does give off that rainbow effect :)

So do any of you guys watch DDD? If not, what is your favorite show to watch on Sundays?

Favorites - Day 7 - It's the WEEKEND!!

We hope that you've enjoyed our week of favorites. We are going to end the week with our favorite nail art. It's the weekend, time to have fun with friends and family and we our nails to reflect our fun personalities.

Kourt:
I'm a big fan of nail stickers. They are easy and quick and great for me because I can't draw LOL. For my mani I used Lex Cosmetics Cayman Cabana. It went on really nice and lasted a long time. Not to mention the bottle is super cute! They cost about $10 and you can purchase them here.

So I did 1 base coat from China Glaze and 2 layers of Caymen Cabana and then just added some flower nail stickers I got at Target and then finished with a top coat of CHI :) Enjoy!

Gabbz:
I think there are many fun ways to decorate your nails, but I personally like the stamping technique. I first learned about this when I did a search for nail art on youtube and what I got were videos of Konad. I kept watching and thought it was a really cool concept. I think the very first person's videos I started to watch was PlasmaSpeedo. I love her Konad videos and think she's really sweet and very creative. I've even re-created some of the looks she's done. I also enjoy watching sayanythingbr00ke, which I've mentioned her before, and she too has done some cool stamping tutorials. I think stamping is fairly easy, some do require a little more patience but all in all it gives great results. I get more compliments when my nails have images stamped on them. I also get asked what salon I get my nails done at, which I say  "thank you, but I did them myself” lol. Now, there isn't just Konad image plates, Bundle Monster is another brand and there are no name brands you can find online or in some stores. You can purchase Konad and Bundle Monster online through several websites and prices may very. Below are just a few more ways I've used these images plates besides the ones I've shown in past posts.

You can click here to see PlasmaSpeedo's tutorial for this look. I didn't have a grey like her look so I used a red.

So there you have it! Do you have a favorite nail art that you use? If so comment to us!!! Have a great saturday everyone!

Favorites - Day 6 - We're all about crack...

Woohoo the work week is over! For some at least...Like Gabby and myself. It's time for a quick mani, but one people will notice. If you religiously follow our blog (like you should!) then you know our love for the crackle. Our love has spread even to our friends and family.
Kourt:
With all the different crackles/shatters out there I have to say I'm a sucker for China Glaze's Broken Hearted. Pink is my favorite color and I like pairing with colors some wouldn't think about. So for this one I used Sally Hansen's Lightening and painted CG Broken Heart on half the nail at an angle. I loved it!

Like I said before, our love for the crackle has spread to our family and friends. My friend Amanda was over at my house a few weeks ago and she got into my nail polish collection and picked out OPI's Teenage Dream w/ OPI's black shatter. She seriously stared at her nails all night. She has dubbed me her "crack" dealer haha! My mom even likes the crackle. She likes to use it when she doesn't have time to get her nails filled. So here is one of her mani's using OPI's Planks Alot and China Glaze's Fault Line.

Gabbz:
I had been obsessing over this trend way before the OPI shatter was scheduled to come out thanks to the nail blogs lol. I just thought it was different and cool, not to mention a little edgy. I've tried most shatter/crackle polishes under different base colors, but I find that my favorite is the black shatter/crackle. I just think any color under black shatter/crackle stands out more. I've tried many combinations but my favorite combination is my diagonal french tip shatter mani I blogged about before. I think it might be because I'm just obsessed with OPI's Teenage Dream lol. I'll post below my diagonal mani and then a full nail crackle manicure using Teenage Dream under China Glaze crackle. I would've used OPI's Shatter to keep it in the same brand family but mine is all goopy and gross and is in desperate need of nail polish thinner. I heard on a blog comment somewhere that thinner works quite nicely to revive all polishes, even shatter/crackle. So I will let y'all know how it does when I purchase it and try it.

Let me introduce to the Crackle Bandit AKA my Mom. The reason she's called the "Crackle Bandit" is because when I get home from work I see them sitting all alone on the kitchen table waiting to re-united with their long lost crackle family. My mother has also been bitten by the crackle bug obviously, so here is just one of the pictures I have tweeted about. She used China Glaze Liquid Leather with OPI's Silver Shatter.

So have you been bitten by the bug too??? Let us know!

Favorites - Day 5 TopCoats

Hey Everyone! It's so hard to find a good top coat out there in the market today. There are soooo many! So before you waste your money on one you have heard about let us tell you our favorites.

Kourt:
So my favorite Top Coat is by the brand CHI. Yes the same company who does the ceramic straighteners. It is actually a ceramic top coat which I thought was cool and unique. I found it in the bargain bin at ULTA a few months ago and I just am so in love with it. I'm really rough on my nails and I'm clumsy so chips come so easy to me on a pretty mani. Ever since I started using this top coat my mani stays in place for a week or more. It dries under a minute too which is even better!!
Here is what you should look for:

It retails for $8 but I got it on sale for $3.99.

Gabbz:
My pick for favorite Top Coat is Seche Vite Dry Fast Top Coat. I first heard about it on youtube and on several blogs (sorry don't remember where) and decided to get it. I love this stuff!! It actually really dries quick. I use the top coat on one hand and by the time I'm polishing the 2nd hand the first one has already dried. Not only do I like that it dries fast but Seche Vite also leaves your nails super shiny. I also find that when I use really gritty glitter polish, this top coat makes my nails really smooth.
I can't even tell you how many bottles I've gone through. I'm even contemplating on buying a huge bottle, and that's just to refill my small bottle lol. Now I'm not sure where else this is sold but I bought mine at Sally's Beauty supply store. It retails for $7.99 but if you have the beauty club card you can get it for $6.49. I know its a little pricey but it's well worth the money. I would recommend getting e-mail notifications from Sally's because that's I how I bought it in the past for less. If you've tried Seche Vite before and have found something like it for less...let us know.

So other than these two, is there a top coat that you just can't live without? If so comment and let us know!
