Coast to Coast Classics

OPI Launches Touring America
Collection for Fall/Winter 2011

OPI hits the open road with a new take on classic style in the Touring America Collection for Fall/Winter 2011. Inspired by Americana and cities with rich cultural heritage, the collection’s twelve shades offer comfortable glamour and wearable elegance for nails and toes.
“My recent road trip across the country sparked the creation of the Touring America Collection,” says Suzi Weiss-Fischmann, OPI Executive VP & Artistic Director.  “Autumn is a time for reinvention, and these shades revive classic, iconic colors for fall, from cool heather, khaki and chocolate to warm rose, peach and red.”
The season’s go-to shades of taupe and pearl grey appear in variations from dark to light – A-taupe the Space Needle, Get in the Expresso Lane, French Quarter for Your Thoughts, and Suzi Takes the Wheel.  Lush urban neutrals in deep sapphire (Road House Blues), rich raisin (Honk If You Love OPI), chic olive (Uh-oh Roll Down the Window), and coffee brown (I Brake for Manicures) merge with iconic red (Color to Diner For), vivid rose (My Address is “Hollywood), and luminous coral and orange (I Eat Mainely Lobster, Are We There Yet?) for an expansive color landscape.

“This collection will take women around the world on the ultimate tour across the USA, with stops in Baltimore, Clarksdale, Hollywood, Jackson Hole, Memphis, Milwaukee, New Orleans, New York City, Philadelphia, Seattle, St. Louis, and Tucson,” explains Suzi. “Together, the locales that inspired Touring America make up a rich palette of color complementing trends from the runway, where we saw a mix of feminine details and dramatic menswear touches.”
Touring America includes the following shades:

Are We There Yet?
Don’t make me reach back there and take that perfect melon shade!

Uh-oh Roll Down the Window
You’re gonna wanna pull over for this “unexpected” olive green.

A-taupe the Space Needle
You’ll climb to new heights with this creamy-rich taupe.

Half-Moon Mani

So in honor of Saturday night's " Supermoon" (biggest full moon in 18yrs) I decided to finally try the half-moon mani. I know this trend has been out for awhile, but this was my first attempt. I've seen many celebrities with this mani but the one I can recall seeing it on first was on Dita Von Teese.

Now it's fairly easy and the combinations are endless. For best results with this half-moon mani or reverse french tip, is to pick contrasting colors. You'll need a light shade for the base(moon) and a darker shade for the top.

Here is how I achieved my look: I used the French Manicure Stickers, KLEANCOLOR Nail Lacquer in Pearl Silver, Milani Nail Lacquer in My Darling and Seche Vite Dry Fast Top Coat.
First you want to apply your base coat, I used Pearl Silver. You want to make sure the base color is Completely dry or else the stickers will peel the color off. It's ok if nail color on top is not perfect or looks streaky because we'll be covering it up with a darker shade.

Once base color is dry apply the stickers at the base of the nail to make the half moon.

Then take the darker shade (in my case I used My Darling) and paint above the sticker line to look like so.
So once that's completely dry, you can remove the stickers and clean up the edges and it'll look like this.
Then I just put a coat of my Seche Vite and I was done.

Now, I've seen other people use the paper re-inforcement stickers and use those instead of the french tip stiƧkers, but I didn't have any. Now the key is to be patient and let the base dry COMPLETELY or it will peel. Yes...I was guilty and it peeled and I had to go over it again. Same with the dark shade, wait for it to dry.

So I hope you all give it this cool and edgy look a try :)

A few of my daily must haves...

Hey everyone!! I am still rocking the zebra print manicure that hasn't chipped yet! So awesome :) Sorry I'm just impressed when my polish doesn't chip :) Small things make me happy! So with that being said I'm just going to blog here about a few daily must have items I'd be lost without!

This first item is what inspired me to do this post haha! I was sitting here with dry hands and reached over to my new favorite lotion and just had to share!!! There are numerous reasons why I love it...I guess I should tell you what brand it is first huh? That might help! It is Bodycology's Vanilla Cupcake body cream. Simply the best lotion I have ever had and trust me I've had alot from the cheap brands to the pricier brands (thanks QVC). This is the best because A) it smells amazing! B) it's only $5 ($4 at our local grocery store here in San Antonio)  C) it really does moisturize your hands/body and lastly D) it is paraben free and doesn't test on animals. I honestly only bought it because I'm obsessed with cupcakes and it smelled heavenly. I didn't expect it to work so well. It was truly concocted by the Gods :) So if you're on a budget but want something to moisturize well, then get it!!! It will have you feeling smooth and smelling good enough to eat and trust me everyone wants to eat me after I use it! I also use the body wash and the body spray but the lotion is definately my favorite :) I just like to have all my products match in scent lol!

The 2nd item I'd be lost without is Mally's Poreless face primer. It feels so amazing on the skin and it keeps your makeup locked in place like no other primer I've ever used. Mally's makeup brand doesn't test on animals, which, as I've stated before I prefer. This was the first product I used by Mally and it was a purchase on a whim lol I was sitting at work one day with nothing to do so I pulled up our shows on QVC.com and Mally happened to be on the air. I use her eyeliner and mascara too but her Primer is my favorite! If you are unsure what primer is, it acts as a barrier between your moisturizer and your makeup. Sometimes when you apply makeup after your moisturizer it just mixes all together and doesn't adhere and stay on as well. So definately try a primer out! This sells for $35 at QVC.com and it's item # A86901 or you can do what I did and put it on thier auto delivery plan which is item # A94395 and this will ship to you conveniently every 90 days so you don't have to worry about ordering or forgetting to order. On auto delivery you can also delay the shipment if you need to :)

The last item I have grown to love more than I could love any other skin care item is my awesome Zebra Print Clarisonic! I said I would never spend the amount of money they were asking for this (almost $100 for the MIA which is what I have). But my dear old granny sent me $100 for my birthday/Christmas and it was on sale so I thought what they hay...Well I love it!!! I am someone who has battled with my skin ever since my teen years. I break out like crazy to the point where it looks like I have the grand canyon on my face...Well using the clarisonic has honestly stopped the horrible breakouts because it gets deep into my skin and gets the dirt and gunk out that just normal face washing can't do. It has an awesome feature where it shuts off on it's own after you have been using it on your face for a minute. So no worrying about timing yourself! You can use any smooth cleanser with it and each brush last for 3 months!  Yes I still have acne scarring but the breakouts that I used to get have dwindled down significantly! So if you're on the fence about spending alot on this I say go for it! To me I'd rather pay alot for 1 item I know will work rather than alot of money on several items that will only kind of work.

So that's that. Those are my go to items of the moment!!! I will always blog about a product I am loving and that truly works for me because I love sharing :)

Konad...stamped for the very first time

So I'm a Konad virgin...lol My best friend purchased her Konad awhile back and honestly I didn't think I'd be able to do it...But after watching some youtube videos, and being totally jealous of Gabby's nail designs I caved in and bought my Konad...Sometimes I slip up and call it Gonad just because it's funny to me...call me immature, it's ok ;)

So I've had the Konad for a month and finally used it last night!!! If I am going to toot my own horn for a minute I think I did a great job for the first time using it. Gabby agreed :) Even my dear mama said it looked great and looked like something Gabby would do...And everyone knows aside from Rachel Zoe, Gabby is my style icon...lol

Anyways so I decided to bust out my new Zoya Spring collection and go with a color that's coming in this season...Grey!!! I can't even begin to express my love for grey...Some may find it boring and depressing...To me it's bright and it makes me happy! Zoya's Dove is just a gorgeous color I think everyone must buy. Grey is just a great universal color. You can wear it with just about any other color in the color spectrum and it's a good go to color when you need to get away from black. So I took some pics of Dove just without my Konad nail art :)

I am just so in love with this shade. Oh and this is my first time using Zoya!!! I'm going to be addicted to this brand I can just see it now. It goes on so well, not to mention it's vegan :) I try to get cruelty free products when I can. I don't think an animal should ever have to suffer just so I can be beautiful. But that is just me!

So onto Konad!! Can I get a OC Vicki WOOHOO!!! I decided to go with the zebra print from one of the bundle monster plates just because I am obsessed with zebra print. It took me a couple tries but I had educated myself before setting out on my voyage! Definately watch several videos from several different people before you do this because you learn techniques and sometimes it just helps to see the way someone holds it, or the angle they apply it at. I went with the black Konad polish and after the design was done I added China Glaze's Fairy Dust on top as well as Konad's clear top coat. By the way CG Fairy Dust is simply amazing, that's all...So without further adieu here is my finished product!

The Fairy Dust is only on the first finger lol I did eventually paint the rest of them with it. Anyways so what do you think?? I love it! And I keep looking at it and keep positioning my hands so people can look at it too and compliment me lol!!!!!

Tried nail stickers for the first time

Hey hey hey :) So I've been slacking on posting here but alot has been going on. Might slack some more because I'm having surgery soon :/ But then again I may not slack because I will be laid up in bed with nothing else to do hahah!

Anyways the other day I had a special event to go to for my job so I did my nails to match my dress. The dress I got at Agaci for $32 and it was a ruffle one shoulder mini dress and it had a black and grey lace look to it. I did my nails in Sally Hansen's Xtreme Wear Black Out. I picked up these cute white flower nail stickers by Nail Artist. I waited until my nails were completely dry and applied 1 sticker to each nail. I didn't have time for a top coat because as usual I was running late! So I took a shower, got dressed, did my hair and makeup and left. Well by the end of the night I still had the stickers on! I was so shocked! They held up really well without a top coat. That night I added more flowers and a top coat and they still held up for a couple of days! I definately recommend these. They are quick and easy.

This was right before I left for the event :)

I'm the smallest LOL!!! But you get to see the dress I was trying to coordinate my nails to.

And this was after. I got bored and re-did some nails and added petals like they were falling :) I got several compliments in the Emergency Room LOL
